Ah, the end to the week!

Saturday is about over and its been an up and down week, but it's ended good! I shan't go into all the events of the week so I'll just pick the high spots.
  1. A fun week at the council postroom, lots of laughs and jokes, plus bits of tedium and also work thrown in. They're a mad bunch but a damn good mad bunch, I just love going to work there every day.
  2. Last night, a 'business meeting' of the new committee of the astro society turned into a housewarming party at the new president's new mobile home... For the life in me, I have no idea why they wanted me to join them, probably for the comic relief, or perhaps the wise and sage advice? :-) Of course it could be that probably after 3 years I knew what was what! Food, food, and more food was consumed, wine for us, and non-alcoholic grape juice for the driver. Must have been a good night cos we left there at midnight and I got back here at 1 a.m!
  3. Today's bowls was a smasher of a game, I played above myself and did remarkably well, probably the best player from the home team today! I won my match but the rest lost theirs, so I must be the best, right? Even had a compliment or two from adjoining matches, I played that well....
The low spots this week? Ah well, you wouldn't want to know them, no point in spoiling a good time, right? :-)

Quietness...

Well it was a lovely relaxing week at my sister's, keeping an eye on the house while she was on her little jollies. I even managed to keep the place tidy, and those who know me will be aware thats a real feat!! Having access to a broadband connection, satellite tv etc was all good, and I enjoyed it.

OK so I'm back home and back to the treadmill. Nothing really earth-shattering to mention, other than to say that on Friday I shall be going to a 'Society Officers' meeting, although I'm strictly ex-officio now! They must value my input, but I must remember to not take charge of the meeting and just offer my views when neccessary! Old habits die hard, yannow!

Rotten!!

What a way to start my final season playing outdoor lawn bowls! A wet, miserable, dank afternoon, with a partner that struggled all game, and I had to keep having to rescue the situation. All ok at the start, but as the afternoon wore on, the opponents got to grips with things and so we lost by 5 as I couldn't keep rescuing things.

Enough of that. Now this week, I get the compensation of a weeks housesitting at Keri's, which I shall enjoy immensely, satellite TV, broadband PC and other things. YUM. No wild parties though so don't even ask...

The End (pt 1)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Farewell to the Astro Society, but not a goodbye. This was the scene after I received my leaving present of a pair of solar binoculars (used for observing the sun SAFELY!) from the new President (I must remember Sharon's not the secretary anymore!).

The Society also presented me with a book on comet science, signed by most of the members, which will remind me of so many people and events in the future. All this has been much appreciated by myself as was the bouquet of flowers presented to Alicia, which I knew about but didn't let on about!

The end of the meeting was strange in that at the end, normally I would have chivvied everyone out, but as I wasn't in charge, I didn't say a word! All the things I would normally have thought of doing, well, I've had to remind myself that its someone else's job now..... However, I shall still be involved as nominal Vice-President at committee meetings, until I leave for other parts.

I hate leaving do's...

Home and memories....

As I come towards the end of the week's break at the parents house, the peace and solitude has given me much time to reflect on events, in the present and in the past. Sometimes its not a bad thing to get away to isolated places with little distraction!

After putting down roots in the Hull area, coming back here for a longer period of time than normal has meant re-adjusting to the change in pace of life. No dashing down the shop cos you fancy something else for dinner, no popping to the coffee shop for a natter. Its made me consider how my life has changed over recent times and especially so over the last couple of years.

This house has many memories and considering it was where I grew up etc, thats no surprise. Familar things like the daffodils outside on the lane, watching the house-martins swooping round plus the views over the Yorkshire Wolds with the familiar landmarks in the distance. The open fires giving their comforting glow to the living rooms, listening to the familiar voices of the local radio station and not forgetting the tiny room I used to sleep in!

Ah yes, memories!
