Another bye-bye...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Another goodbye was said this last weekend. This was during the meeting of the Scarborough Astro Society to which I have been a member since 1990, and Alicia was up to share it. However, as I don't have access to the world best photographer, this isn't the world's greatest picture!

Almost 16 years I'd been part of it, although the last 5 I took a back seat through being such a distance from the meetings. However, during that time, there were so many changes that I was glad to have been a part of it.... In recent times, due to the membership progressing and changing, I barely know anyone now, save a handful of the 50 or so members. I doubt more than they even knew my name or what I'd done. The president, John (seen in image centre), made it sound I'd done a helluva lot of stuff, and I guess I had but there was no need to lay it on so thick!

However, I shall miss him, even if I might not miss the Society as much. I only hope I can do as good a job as he did, wherever I end up.

Other news suggest it might well be well into autumn before the move takes place now. Delays etc are making that rather likely, if someone can keep their impatience under control!! Otherwise, who knows when it will happen...

Too much, much too much HEAT......

I hate this weather. 29C (84F for the rest of you) in Britain is not usual and seriously unpleasant, especially in this part of the world, well at least I think so. And its not going to get any better, 31C (88F) is on the cards around here for tomorrow and possibly Wednesday. That's it, I'm not leaving the house without good reason.

Not for anyone or anything.... so there!

'One step beyond....'

And full marks if you know which 80's band produced that song!

Nothing much has really happened. The date for the move has been put on hold, due to difficulties with the current tenant, so when I'll get to pack up and leave this place is anyone's guess. I'm not going to have a go at the current tenant cos its their home at the moment.

Its all so very frustrating, cos without an address as a base for job applications etc., I'm stuck in some kind of 'no-mans-land' that I can do nothing about. Ally is starting to go slightly mad at it all, but there's some good news, or potential good news, for her on the horizon, so lets hope it will work out.

If we can't get the house immediately, and I want to move down, we should have to rent privately but the costs will be horrible and neither of us have that kind of money yet

I think I'm going rapidly nuts....

As sent to me by email

A very worrying load of information.

Can you imagine working for a company that has a little more than 500 employees and has the following statistics?

29 have been accused of spouse abuse
7 have been arrested for fraud
19 have been accused of writing bad cheques
117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses
3 have done time for assault
71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit
14 have been arrested on drug-relatedcharges
8 have been arrested for shoplifting
21 are currently defendants in lawsuits
84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year
Can you guess which organization this is?

It's the 535 members of the Houses of Parliament, the same group that cranks out hundreds of new laws each year designed to keep the rest of us in line.
