Yuck! A looooooong week.

Well, it SEEMED a long week. Alternately good and bad, but its back to whatever passes for normality around here...

OK, on Monday I started a training course, gearing to improving my chances of finding work, and by Wednesday I was starting a placement at the City Council post room. But on Wednesday night, I was really REALLY ill (a fever of 102!) and spent most of Thursday dosed up asleep on antibiotics and co-codamol! Friday was spent recovering and by now, Sunday evening, I'm back amongst the human race again.

Have to admit, it looks a bit suspicious, having one full day and then two days off sick! However, as my dear sister rang in and reported me sick, it'll be ok! Especially as she came down with it on Friday herself!

Time for a wee update

Not a lot happening, but the website for the local Blind Insitute is now completed and is now live. I'm rather pleased about the fact its now done, cos I can now get paid for it! The moolah, the dosh, the cash, the readies etc....

Snow again!

Image hosting by PhotobucketAs promised, a little pic of the snow scene for the 1st floor of Chez Rob. And I had to go out while it was drifting down... not a nice day to be out at all. I can't remember it being like this before in the middle of March. but that doesn't account to much, I sometimes don't remember last week!

Spring, wherefore art thou, spring???

I love my AstroSociety

Not many meetings left, tonight means another one down, and just 1½ to go. Confused? Well its like this.

The next meeting is the full one, ok? The ½ meeting is because as soon as my successor is elected at the AGM in May, the business and running of the rest of that meeting is THEIR responsibility.

Its looking, at the moment, like there's just one nomination for each of the positions of president, secretary and treasurer. And I do know who they are and I'm perfectly sure that they will continue to run the society in the proper manner! I'm just waiting to see who decides they want to be on the committee. I hope its someone who can bring a fresh idea or two to the direction the Society must take.

Tonight's meeting had the highest turnout yet, 33, for any lecture that I can remember. And it was such a good meeting, both for content and for atmosphere. My successor will reap the rewards of the hard work of the last 3 years, and quite right too. Although I would like a bit of credit at the end of the year, I don't want to claim it all as its been a team effort.

One thing that I'd better not forget to do before the AGM, is to have a group photo of officers and committee, if not for the website, then for myself. And it would have to be good enough to have printed and framed, so I can look back and remember the wonderful times.

I shall miss them all, you know. I just hope that I don't shed a tear or two at the end of the AGM. Actually, perhaps I might, and dammit, I shan't be ashamed of doing so.

Winter Walking on the Yorkshire Wolds

Image hosting by PhotobucketJust a couple of pictures from Saturday's walk. This one is the view looking roughly north along Welton Dale at about 8.30 am.

Image hosting by PhotobucketThis one is taken from the top of Spout Hill, above the village of Brantingham, looking south-west towards the Humber. And yes, it was a bit cold, I guess the temperature was around 0C but it was good walking weather and very invigorating too!

And about time too.

Apologies once more for no updates in two weeks!

Its been a cold week. Well, cold as it gets in this part of the world. Daytime temperatures have struggled about 4C in a cold north or north-westerly wind, and as a consequence, the night-time temperatures have been low too, last night saw -3C. For a city location, thats pretty low.

Finally, after seeing many places get snow by the inch, we in Hull finally got some, as you can see above. The only downside is that I'm out walking tomorrow, and its an early start. Oh well, I suppose I'd better get the cold weather gear out again...
