Where in the world???

See the map on the left? It's possibly one of the best tools for bloggers I've seen for a while, better than a silly old counter. For those non-techies, the host site logs your location when you view the blog (from information which is unique to every country, user, domain etc, called an IP number) and displays it on the maps. So now I can see where every one of my readers are. If you keep a blog yourself or need to know where your hits are coming from, this is probably one of the best ways of finding out.

Of course in the UK it doesn't work as well, but internationally, its very interesting. So hi to everyone across the world....!!!

Bad Boy Rob...

Ok, I know I've been neglecting you all, gentle readers, many apologies! :)

Shame there's not much to tell you all, but about the only thing new was last night's astronomy meeting, which went very well. Once again numbers were up, pushing 30 again. I'm now starting to feel proud of what has been achieved, when I reflect upon it.

The membership must have doubled, the attendance certainly has (up to about 30 from about a dozen or so), the speakers are willing to come and we have an increased profile within the city. Plus we'd been invited to assist the University with their plans for their observatory, which could well give us, as a Society, access to a professional-standard telescope.

The meeting has a very relaxed attitude, and I hope, is very friendly to our visitors. That's the backbone to a successful group, in my opinion, making the visitors feel as if they can belong there, without being overwhelmed by the science of astronomy.

It's a disappointment, that after doing all of this, the committee will have to find somebody to take my place. I think the current secretary may well choose to fill in for a twelve month period. However, I couldn't wish for a better committee to work with. Outstanding they were, all through the years.

Rob the Journo!

After some humming-and-hawing, I decided to volunteer to write for a Hull City fans site and the first article was published on Monday, and well pleased I was with it.

Thankfully I'm not under any deadlines, so I can write articles as and when the inspiration hits me. Mind you I have to be a little careful not to upset people but tough TT to them. Perhaps I'll have to upset one or two.

Nothing much in the diary for this week, until Monday night and the astro soc at the Uni.

Farewell, gentle reader, and hope the sun is shining on you.
