Bad Boy Rob...

Ok, I know I've been neglecting you all, gentle readers, many apologies! :)

Shame there's not much to tell you all, but about the only thing new was last night's astronomy meeting, which went very well. Once again numbers were up, pushing 30 again. I'm now starting to feel proud of what has been achieved, when I reflect upon it.

The membership must have doubled, the attendance certainly has (up to about 30 from about a dozen or so), the speakers are willing to come and we have an increased profile within the city. Plus we'd been invited to assist the University with their plans for their observatory, which could well give us, as a Society, access to a professional-standard telescope.

The meeting has a very relaxed attitude, and I hope, is very friendly to our visitors. That's the backbone to a successful group, in my opinion, making the visitors feel as if they can belong there, without being overwhelmed by the science of astronomy.

It's a disappointment, that after doing all of this, the committee will have to find somebody to take my place. I think the current secretary may well choose to fill in for a twelve month period. However, I couldn't wish for a better committee to work with. Outstanding they were, all through the years.
